SCOPE
✅ What We Can Do
Here’s a list of what we can do for you as part of the video editing service:
Clip Selection
Reviewing and selecting clips from a folder of clips (or a single long video) is considered labor-intensive and will use up your subscription day(s) for non-design/video editing work.
Depending on the number of clips or the length of raw footage, this may add days to your turnaround time.
Providing time stamps or pre-selecting clips will help speed up the final delivery of your video request.
Color Correction/Color Grading
Simple corrections or gradings that do not require rotoscopy.
For improved visual cohesion and mood.
Transitions Effects
Visual effects are how videos move a scene from one video clip to another.
Titling/Subtitling/Captioning
Processes of displaying text on the video to provide additional or interpretive information.
Voice-Over Syncing
Process of synchronizing a voice recording over video footage in a cohesive manner.
Video Clipping/Trimming & Footage Matching
Process of removing a section of a video by cutting in two places, lifting out the middle section, and combining the leftover video back together.
Clean structural edits, including:
Quick cuts, pacing fixes
J-cuts & L-cuts for conversational fluidity
Trimming based on context or storytelling rhythm
Video Template Editing
Process of editing a video template with new content and/or creating a new video template from scratch.
This includes replacing text, images, video clips, and other customizable elements to match brand guidelines and project goals.
Note: Heavily animated templates may increase turnaround due to render times or plugin requirements.
Soundtrack, Audio, and SFX Addition
Adding music and/or sound effects to the final video.
Syncing music and sound effects to elevate the emotional tone and pacing of the video.
Note: Custom audio files must be provided.
Aspect Ratio Update
Adjusting the aspect ratio to suit standard/professional formats such as 4:3, 16:9, to ensure suitable viewing across universal platforms. Includes standard aspect ratios for social media.
Format Conversion & Delivery Encoding
Conversion of one video format to another, for example, MP4 to MOV.
Ensure proper codec, bitrate, and resolution settings based on platform needs.
Preferred video output: .mp4, .mov, .avi.
Preferred audio output: .mp3, .wav.
Footage Matching
Manipulation and editing of different video footage so it will look cohesive in the final project.
Video Stabilization
Eliminating jitters and blurriness provides cleaner and smoother footage.
Audio, Sound, and Music Editing
Designers can cut, stitch, and manipulate audio.
Audio manipulation scope: Volume, background noise modulation, changing pitch, and applying FX with Premiere Pro built-in tools.
Voice-to-Text
Captions are auto-generated using AI transcription tools based on the original voice content.
Ideal for reels, shorts, and fast-turnaround social content.
Note: Captions may contain errors in grammar or context. Clients are responsible for double-checking the final output to ensure accuracy, especially for technical or sensitive content. (See: Scope: Content Creation, Proofreading, and Transcribing Text)
Text-to-Speech
Voiceovers are created using AI tools based on finalized, client-approved scripts. These are ideal for storytelling formats, short explainers, or experimental content.
Chrome Key Cleanup
Chroma Key removal/cleanup done with Premiere Pro or After Effects.
Note: Does not include Rotoscoping: frame-by-frame clean-up techniques.
Motion Tracking
Process of tracking the movements of an object within a scene.
Time Remapping
Manipulation of time remapping on Premiere Pro or After Effects to generate visual effects such as:
Time-lapses:
Speed Ramping
Slow Motion
Time-lapses
Frame Freezing
4K Videos
Deliver industry-standard 4K Video editing, including all of the Scope Samples.
Applies to any scope item as long as the source footage is provided in 3840x2160p or 4096x2160p resolution.
LIMITATIONS
❌ What We Can't Do
Here’s a list of what we cannot accommodate within our video editing service:
❌ Script Writing, Storytelling, and Proof-Reading
Our creatives specialize in visual content. This means we do not provide script writing, storytelling development, or storyboarding services.
Storytelling refers to creating a narrative, and storyboarding refers to visually planning it. Both must be provided by the customer.
All written content used in the video will be used as-is and must be supplied in full before production begins.
❌ Sourcing Media from Unauthorized Platforms
Our creatives will not download or source video content from third-party video streaming websites.
This includes platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or any similar service.
All media files and assets must be provided by the customer.
❌ Audio Transcription
Even if audio is provided, we do not transcribe from audio; a text document must be provided.
❌ Voiceover Recording
The process of recording audio read from a script or other.
Voiceover audio needs to be provided.
❌ Sound Design
Full Sound Design including complex level of layering, voice or track cleanup, noise removal, or cinematic audio mixing
❌ Trademarked Names, Brands, and Quotes
Our creatives will not use any trademarked materials unless it is explicitly requested
Design Pickle is not to be held liable for any copyright issues with any request
❌ SRT File Manipulation
SRT Files are used to generate subtitles in languages other than English.
❌ Rotating or animated scenes that require complex Motion Tracking placement
❌ Rotoscoping
Animation techniques that animators use to trace over video footage frame by frame.
❌ 3D
The process that enhances the illusion of depth perception, hence adding a third dimension.
❌ 3D Footage Tracking
3D objects
Rotating or animated scenes that require complex Motion Tracking placement.
❌ 3D CGI (Computer Generated Images)
Creation or manipulation of 3D assets, including modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. Adding or compositing 3D elements into video is considered out of scope.
❌ VFX or Visual Effects
Particle simulations, smoke, fire, or water effects, including the removal of such elements, fall under VFX and are out of scope due to their complexity.
FAQs
How is Video Editing different from Motion Graphics?
Video editing or (Live Action Video editing) is the process of manipulating actual video footage to create a new, edited video. This can include modifying, rearranging, trimming, or manipulating an unedited video file. Video editing differs from motion graphics, which is more about adding motion/animation to digital graphics. It is common for videos to include motion graphics overlaid on top to create a more engaging final product.
Will my Slack designer be my video designer?
This could be the case, but it is not guaranteed. We have a select group of designers who will be assigned video editing requests, which means the assigned designer could be someone who isn’t your Slack Designer.
How do I provide the best possible request for video editing?
Provide your designer with clear instructions to follow, scripts to use, and timestamps on where in the video you want to be edited. You can also share the audio/music files you'd like added to the request.
How long is the turnaround time for a video editing request?
It typically takes 2-5 business days to complete a 3 minute video. However, this timeframe can go up or down depending on the video's complexity and type of project, or if you have other higher-priority requests in your queue.
All your submitted requests (including Video Editing requests) will be placed in your request queue and will be worked on according to your queue priority order.
What if I want a different file format? (Other than default file formats)
If you would like a different format, you can request it, but it is not guaranteed that we will be able to deliver. Please ask your creative team if it's possible to do so within our scope.
Where do I request revisions?
You can use our Feedback Tools in the platform to annotate the video exactly where you have revisions or comments on the video format.
Can you add motion graphics to my video?
Yes. If the designer assigned to your video editing request does not have motion graphics skills, then the request will be endorsed to a motion graphics designer to handle the motion graphic animations.
What is the maximum length of the video you will create?
The maximum length of the video file to be delivered is 10 minutes for short-form videos (eg: Tiktok clips), and 30 minutes for long-form videos (eg: YouTube videos). You may submit longer videos, but the delivered file will have a maximum duration of 10 or 30 minutes.
Can you work on descriptive subtitles under Titling, Subtitling, or Captioning?
Yes, as long as the text is provided.
